Demise of Sudhir Nath, Secretary (Youth Affairs)

According to Bureaucracy Today sources, Sudhir Nath Sports Secretary IAS (MP cadre:1974) Government of India (GOI) died yesterday morning at 6:45 am due to heart attack on March 17, 2009 .

Sudhir Nath, 56, is survived by his wife Sushma, an IAS officer who is serving as an Expenditure Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, and a son, an IFS officer posted in China. His son is on his way back to the country after getting the news.

Before taking charge at the Sports Ministry, the Madhya Pradesh cadre officer was the Director Enforcement and led the probe in the controversial oil-for-food scam, revealed by the Volcker Committee of the United Nations.

Mr. Nath had also served in the Ministry of Defence and President Secretariat. His last rites were performed,yesterday at the Lodhi Road crematorium.
