MoU Signed for Resuming North Koel Reservoir Project

During a meeting chaired by Upendra Prasad Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, State of Bihar and State of Jharkhand in order to complete the pending work of the North Koel Reservoir Project at an estimated cost of Rs. 1622.27 crore. In order to get funding of the state share under the Long Term Irrigation Fund for North Koel Reservoir project, a supplementary MoU was signed between Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, National Water Development Agency, NABARD with State Governments of Bihar and Jharkhand. The meeting was also attended by Sanjay Kundu, Director General NWDA and HR Dave, Deputy Managing Director, NABARD.

Scheduled for completion in 30 months once the project begins, the estimated cost of the work yet to be done is approximately Rs. 1622.27 crore in which the common component amounting to Rs. 1013.11 crore will be borne by the Government as a grant from the LTIF under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana.
