Inauguration of PIO International Conference

Inaugurating the International Conference of PIO Parliamentarians organized by the Antar Rashtriya Sahayog Parishad – Bharat in association with the PIO Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Ministry of External Affairs, President Ram Nath Kovind expressed his pride rested in the Indian Diaspora by saying that the country is proud of the Pravasi Bharatiya brothers and sisters working hard in countries as far apart as Italy, Bolivia and Tanzania and that the global financial centres of New York, London and Singapore would simply not be the same without their contribution.

President Kovind said that the Indian Government’s engagement with the PIO parliamentarians and the Indian Diaspora community is not a transactional relationship or a zero-sum game. Rather, the elected and public representatives are looked upon as a living bridge. The President acknowledged the role of the Indian Diaspora in enhancing understanding between their countries and that of their ancestors and helping in building economic, people to people and strategic connections which are mutually benefitting.
