The Ministry of Women and Child Development has referred the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme fraud to the Central Bureau of Investigation after it was found that illegal forms in the name of cash incentive were being distributed by some unauthorized elements, Bureaucracy Today has learnt.
These forms are said to have been distrubuted in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Bihar by some unknown entity. The Ministry had taken up this matter with the concerned State Government authorities.
The Ministry said in a statement, “The BBBP scheme has no provision for any cash incentives for individuals. Still some people are falling prey to such frauds and buying forms or disclosing personal details in name of such non-existent benefits being falsely offered in the name of scheme. Keeping in view the public interest and gravity of the matter, it is informed to general public that the case has now been referred to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for investigation into the matter.”

The Government launced BBBP scheme to bring equality while challenging patriarchy mindsets and to root out such thoughts from the societal system. Its motive is to empower women on a life cycle continuum and to ensure strict enforcement of PC & PNDT Act, by assuring right education to a girl child.
