The BEML has made Rs 98.30 crore profit before tax (PBT) in 2016-17. The PSU made a sale of Rs 2,836.98 crore in the same fiscal.
In 2014-15 and 2015-16, the PSU made total sales of Rs 3,129.65 crore and Rs 3,422.92 crore and PBT of Rs 6.91 crore and Rs 77.92 crore, respectively.
The product range of BEML in defence segment is High Mobility and Recovery Vehicles, Bridge Systems, Vehicles for Missile projects, Tank Transportation Trailers, Milrail Wagons, Mine Ploughs, Crash Fire Tenders, Aircraft Towing Tractors and Aircraft Weapon Loading Trolley.
In the Rail and Metro Segment, its product range is Passenger Vehicles, EMUs, Metro Cars and Maintenance and Utility Vehicles.
The product range of BEML in Mining and Construction segment is Bull Dozers, Excavators, Dumpers, Shovels, Loaders, Water Sprinklers, Motor Graders, Pipe Layers and Tyre Handlers.
BEML has obtained several contracts for manufacturing Stainless Steel Metro Cars as the lowest bidder through competitive biddings.
The Government has given ‘in-principle’ approval for strategic disinvestment of some CPSEs including BEML Ltd. Disinvestments through strategic sale are being considered based on recommendations of NITI Aayog after taking into consideration all aspects of the matter. However, after completion of process, specific approval of Government would be sought again.
