A Miniratna PSU, SJVN, has announced to train 1,600 farmers under its Deen Dayal Upadhay Krishi Kaushal Vikas Yojana in Himachal Pradesh.
It has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry of Nauni in Solan, and another with CSK Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya in Palampur – for technical and infrastructural support to the programme.
Last year, 1,000 farmers were trained in these two universities for enhancing their skills in various fields. In view of the feedback from the participants and the universities, the number of sponsored candidates had been enhanced to 1600 this year, Bureaucracy Today has learnt.
Training will be held on various income generating professional activities and courses of horticulture, forestry, allied disciplines like social science, environmental science, entomology and pathology whereas SJVN will fund the project.
An expenditure of more than Rs 1.10 crore will be incurred on sponsoring the 1600 youths for skilling of farmers, an official from SJVN said.
