MOFPI Launches PMKSY

Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, Minister of State for Food Processing Industries (MOFPI), in a written reply to a question raised in the Rajya Sabha stated that a new Central Sector Scheme called Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) allocating Rs.6000 crore for overall development of the food processing sector has been launched.

The major objectives of PMKSY include creation of a robust infrastructure along the entire food processing value chain, reduction of wastage of agricultural produce and increase food processing/value addition. The PMKSY surrounds three new and four ongoing schemes, namely, infrastructure for agro-processing clusters, creation of backward and forward linkages and creation/expansion of food processing and preservation capacities and mega food parks, integrated cold chain and value addition infrastructure, food safety and quality assurance infrastructure and human resources and institutions respectively.
