Former Maharashtra Chief Secretary JP Dange, IAS (Retd) (MH:73), has been served notice to vacate his Government flat and the evacuation proceedings against him has been initiated.
This was revealed in an RTI reply filed by RTI activist Anil Galgali seeking details of Secretary-level IAS and IPS officers not vacating their houses after their retirement.
In the RTI reply, State Public Works Department Deputy Secretary SM Dhule stated that the Maharashtra Government has filed evacuation suit against Dange, who retired as Member of the State Revenue Tribunal two years ago. In fact, an arrear of Rs 7,50,900 charged as rent for 1470 square feet in 'Yashodhan' building flat has also not been paid by Dange. This amount of rent arrears is from September 1, 2016 to May 1, 2017. Evacuation proceeding have been filed against Dange in the court of the Designated Authority of Greater Mumbai, RTI reply said.
Galgali told Bureaucracy Today that the RTI also revealed that former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria, retired senior IPS officers KS Bishnoi and Madhukar Gaikwad have also not vacated their Government quarters even after the lapse of statutory three-month stay granted to civil servants after their retirement.
