BSNL today tied up with Facebook where the state run operator will provide backhaul bandwidth to the popular social networking site and will also usher in connectivity in rural areas which are mostly bandwidth starved leading poor digital inclusion of such areas.
On the occasion of World Telecom Day, BSNL tied up with a host of companies to boost its enterprise business revenues. In private telecom sector, this segment contributes around 20% of the overall revenue. In BSNL too, it fetches around 20% of the overall revenue.
This apart from bringing the rural mass into the well connected world of Facebook, will also provide a revenue stream to the state operator.
“BSNL signed first MoU with Facebook. Under this MoU BSNL is going to provide backhaul connectivity to various ISPs being served by it. Both organisations will gets benefitted with their complementary strengths”, CMD BSNL Anupam Shrivastava said.
The PSU also launched its “Bulk Email” solution in partnership with Data Infosys Limited. Government and corporate users can take advantage of this specially designed email solution for bulk users.
The Government owned telecom company announced setting up of network management system (NMS) separately for it Data Network “IPMPLS” and for its “broadband network”. It has also upgraded its data backbone using VSAT to offer Broadband speed up to 100 Mbps to its VSAT broadband customers.
