The National Council of Educational Research and Training has told empanelled 680 vendors across the country for distributing textbooks.
The NCERT has asked the vendors to make available textbooks to all CBSE affiliated schools on time. The Government will also make NCERT books available to the students and schools from NCERT sales counter located at NCERT headquarter. In addition, NCERT books will be made available from the sales counter of its Regional Centres located at Ahmadabad, Bangalore and Kolkata, Bureaucracy Today has learnt.
The HRD ministry has taken these steps to ensure timely and smooth delivery of NCERT books at reasonable prices to all CBSE affiliated schools before the commencement of the academic session 2017-18.
Interestingly, after the Union Human Resource Development Ministry made textbooks published by the NCERT compulsory in schools under the Central Board of Secondary Education, around 2,200 private schools placed orders for nearly 5.5 million books with NCERT till February 28.
According to observers, the demand for NCERT books will cross 10 million at the start of the new academic session.
