Cabinet approves IIIT PPP Bill, 2017

The Cabinet on Wednesday passed a Bill that grants powers to 15 Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIIT) set up through Public Private Partnership (PPP) to accord degrees to their students in the academics. The Cabinet also approved setting up of 50 new KendriyaVidyalayas in the country, Bureaucracy Today has learnt.

The introduction of the Indian Institutes of Information Technology Public Private Partnership (IIIT PPP) Bill, 2017 also entitles theses institutions to use the nomenclature of Bachelor of Technology (BTech) or Master of Technology (MTech) or PhD degree as issued by a University. 
This Bill further declares the 15 IIITs set up on PPP mode as ‘Institutions of National Importance’.
