SC’s decision might ruin Indigo’s business

After the Delhi International Airport Limited directed IndiGo and Spice Jet to “partially” shift one third of their operations from Terminal 1 (T-1) of Indira Gandhi International Airport to Terminal 2, by February 15, 2018, in order to enable renovation and expansion of T-1’s capacity, the Interglobe Aviation Ltd moved the Delhi High Court on Tuesday.

Appearing before the court regarding the said matter, senior advocate Mukul Rohtagi, representing IndiGo said, “We have flown only 14.62 million passengers per annum (mppa) for the year concerned. The 16.1 mppa reflects the capacity of the airlines and not the passengers”. Further, the IndiGo counsel contended that the execution of this decision will cause “completed confusion and inconvenience” to passengers and will virtually have the effect of destroying the airlines’ business.
