Seven Accused in Malegaon Case, Face Trial

A court in Mumbai said that the seven people accused in the 2008 Melagaon blast which killed six and injured 101 people are all to be charged under Section 16 and 18 of the Unlawful Assembly Act. Apart from these sections, they will also be charged for terrorism, conspiracy and other charges under the Indian Penal Code.

The names of the accused include, former army officer Ramesh Upadhyay, Sameer Kulkarni, Ajay Rahirkar, Sudhakar Dwivedi alias Swami Amritanand, Sudhakar Chaturvedi, army officer Prasad Shrikant Purohit and controversial Hindu leader Pragya Singh Thakur.
