Government of India's Ministry of Tourism recently collaborated with Google India and has now launched a 360° Virtual Reality experience video on Incredible India which portrays the country as a destination of diverse experiences. Marking the launch, K. J. Alphons, Minister of State for Tourism said, “India is an iconic destination that offers unique experiences of climate, geography, culture, art, literature, and food.”
By partnering with Google, the Indian government wants to engage new and global audiences and offer immersive content in a never-before-seen manner. The Minister further added that taking virtual reality to the common man at a low or free cost will further enable an increase in the tourist footfall at iconic monuments and various tourist destinations with a focus on the Indian Museums. Incredible India in 360 degrees, as never seen before takes through a journey across Hampi, Goa, Delhi and Amritsar and to explore the places and people that make each of these iconic Indian sites incredible. The launching function of the Virtual Reality video was attended by Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Rashmi Verma, and other senior officials along with Director, Policy Planning and Government (Google India), Chetan K, along with Google representatives.
