Prabhu inaugurates AIBIME

Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Commerce and Industry, together with the ASEAN Ministers and Gen. (Dr.) (Retd.) V K Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs, inaugurated the ASEAN – India Business and Investment Meet and Expo (AIBIME).

Showcased along the lines of “Promoting Mutual Trade and Investment for Shared Prosperity”, the AIBIME served as a platform for discussions on strengthening India’s economic relations with the Eastern countries in such a manner where both sides will aim to scale up bilateral trade and investment in the said region. During the event, Prabhu conveyed his gratitude to the ASEAN Ministers for their participation and said that he looked forward to further deepen India’s relationship with the ASEAN. Today, the event shall focus on sectors of mutual interest. Technical Sessions will be presided by Ravi Shankar Prasad, Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Law and Justice, Harsimrat Kaur, Minister for Food Processing Industries whereas the Valedictory Session will be presided by Arun Jaitley, Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs.

The Ministers from ASEAN countries included H.E. Lim Jock Seng, Minister at the Prime Minister’s office and Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Brunei, H.E. Enggartiasto Lukita, Minister of Trade, Indonesia, H.E. U Khin Maung Cho, Union Minister of Industry, Myanmar, H.E. Chhuon Dara, Secretary of State, Ministry of Commerce, Cambodia, H.E. Nora Kakilala Terado, Under Secretary, Department of Trade and Industry, Philippines, H.E. Chutima Bunyapraphasara, Deputy Minister of Commerce, Thailand, H.E. Cao Quoc Hung, Vice Minister of Industry and Trade, Vietnam and H.E. Lim Jock Hoi, Secretary General of ASEAN.
