Sri Lankan Navy held 4 Indian fishermen

The Sri Lankan Navy today arrested four fishermen from Jagadapattinam in Tamil Nadu’s Pudukottai district for fishing in their territorial waters.

The fishermen, who were fishing off Neduntheevu, were arrested after they accidentally ventured into the Sri Lankan coast. They have been taken to Kangesanthurai by the Lankan navalmen along with their boat.

The Tamil Nadu government has maintained that the retrieval of Katchatheevu, an islet ceded to Sri Lanka in the 1970s, was the "only solution" to the vexed fishermen's issue.
