As part of the Indian Navy’s overseas deployment to the West Coast of Africa and the Mediterranean Sea, three Indian warships: INS Mumbai, INS Trishul and INS Aditya, today reached Jeddah, a Saudi Arabian port city on the Red Sea, for a three-day visit.

The Ministry of Defence said the warships will engage extensively with the Saudi Arabian Navy during their stay in the country.

Apart from professional interactions, sports and social engagements are also planned, which would go a long way in enhancing co-operation and understanding between the two important navies of the Indian Ocean Region (IOR), the Ministry added.

The visit also seeks to underscore India’s peaceful presence and solidarity with friendly countries of the Indian Ocean and to strengthen the existing bonds between the two democracies, Bureaucracy Today has learnt.
