LANXESS India Private Limited has made a commitment to Teach for India (TFI), an NGO, to give its valuable support towards quality education.
They have even promised in devote their valuable time in volunteering to educate underprivileged children in municipal schools. The LANXESS contributed Rs 52,87,500 to the organization as part of its pledged five - year commitment to support not-for-profit organizations in providing quality education to children. The company has also committed to give EUR 75000 (approx Rs 53 lakhs) per year for Corporate Social Responsibility projects in India for the period of 2014-2018 period.
The Managing Director and Country Representative of LANXESS India Pvt Ltd, Dr Jacques Perez, handed over a cheque to Dimple Gujral, Chief Financial Officer of Teach for India, at LANXESS House in Thane. Since 2010, the company has been contributing to the TFI EUR 50,000 per year and has supported over 65 TFI fellows who are trained teachers on a two year full time paid commitment and around 2,000 students directly so far. This contribution is for those volunteers who have given up their full- time jobs and decided to teach the kids in municipal schools to fulfil the social commitments.
Speaking on this occasion, Perez, said, “We, as responsible corporate citizens, believe in quality education which is necessary in building blocks for a progressive economy. Therefore, it is more imperative for us to ensure that we support such initiatives in order to play our part judiciously and constructively. We believe in the vision of Teach for India and complement our corporate social responsibility framework.” We have contributed to NGOs, technical institutions and schools to support education in every region that it operates in. We believe in empowering the education.
Gujral in her response said, “We are thankful to the LANXESS for their continuous support and encouragement in improving children’s lives through education. Our teams are putting their full effort each day to bring out the best in every child and guiding them on the path to a bright future. The support from corporates like the LANXESS gives us confidence to sail forward in this journey.”
The Teach for India is a nationwide NGO that aims to eliminate inequity in education in India. Through its Fellowship programme. The TFI recruits qualified college graduates and working professionals to serve as full-time teachers in low-income schools for two years. Fellows work to bridge the educational gaps that their students face, by using innovative methods in classroom.
